Shweta
Tiwari drives home a gift:
Raja Chaudhary is a happy man as he is now a proud owner of a
white Mercedes, which his wife Shweta Tiwari has gifted him on
the occasion of their seventh wedding anniversary on December
23.
Back in Mumbai after a holiday to Goa where the couple brought
in the New Year, Raja says he was stunned when he saw a Mercedes
parked in his parking space instead of their usual Corolla.
“On December 23, Shweta casually took me down and when my
eyes fell on the Merc, I thought that it was someone else’s
car. She was standing beside me but yet not telling me that she
had bought it for me. Then I saw a red ribbon around it and it
looked extremely new. I looked at her, and the love in her eyes
for me said it all.”
Secret mission
Shweta decided to buy a Merc when she saw her buoyant hubby sitting
behind the steering wheel in his friend’s Merc. “On
December 15, my friend Anant Saxena had dropped by and he had
a Merc. We all went out later, and I asked him if I could drive
it.
Shweta was sitting in the front next to me and Anant was on the
backseat. She casually asked me if I was enjoying driving a Merc.
I said yes, and little did I know that she was secretly making
a plan to give me a pleasant surprise.”
Raja says Shweta should take the Merc to shoots once in a while.
“She should also have fun. It’s real fun to drive
a Merc. Despite the long drives, there is no fatigue. Plus, she
would enjoy driving a car even more now.
After her Lasik surgery, she does not need to wear lenses or spectacles
and it’s different when you drive with and without spectacles,”
he says.
Shweta breezes into the conversation and says, “I am currently
driving it at
140 km/hr and enjoying every bit of it. In his heart of hearts,
Raja always had a desire of having a Merc. But every time, I used
to make him shelve his plan. This time, I thought that ‘enough
is enough’ and now let’s have it.”
‘Black’out
Raja says that the choice of the colour was between black and
white. Shweta chose white because black vehicles do not suit them.
“We had a black Hyundai and met with a few accidents.
An astrologer told us to avoid black colour while buying a vehicle.
It’s not that we don’t wear black, the apprehension
is only when it comes to vehicles.”
Originally, the couple planned to celebrate New Year at home,
without any fanfare but with the arrival of their new car, the
plans have changed.
“We’ve decided to go out and indulge in some revelry.
Some of our friends joined us and we returned yesterday,”
he concludes.
